#KRUCHInsights: A look behind the scenes – How is a new catenary clamp developed?
At KRUCH Railway Innovations GmbH, it all starts with an idea and a key question: What problem is the clamp designed to solve?
1. Idea & Requirements
Based on the problem statement, we define all requirements. This results in a clearly structured list of requirements.
2. Standards & Digital Development
Even at this early stage, we take into account all relevant ISO/EN standards that define how a catenary clamp must be developed and tested.
Building on this, theoretical development proceeds with the help of 3D design and simulation. An initial draft is created and refined. Selected customers and users are involved in the development process to ensure the clamp is developed to fit perfectly.
3. Prototyping
Now it becomes tangible:
• 3D printing of an initial plastic prototype for look and feel
• Adjustments and improvements
• Final sample as a metal-printed prototype
4. Testing & Validation
The terminal is thoroughly inspected, tested, and refined.
Based on the results, a decision is made regarding further mass production.
For us, innovation means: thinking systematically, testing early and thoroughly, and consistently optimizing.
